Real People. Local Stories. Unforgettable Experiences.
At the heart of our tours is a simple mission: to connect travellers with the people, produce, and landscapes that make Tropical North Queensland truly special.
We’re a locally owned and operated company, passionate about showcasing the unique beauty and flavour of the Atherton Tablelands and Kuranda rainforest region. From lush World Heritage-listed rainforest to rich volcanic farmland, we offer immersive experiences that blend scenic travel, local food and wine, and authentic storytelling.
With over a decade of experience in the region, we’ve built lasting relationships with local farmers, winemakers, distillers, and artists—ensuring every stop on our tours is meaningful and memorable.
Whether you’re gliding above the canopy on the Skyrail, spotting platypus in the wild, sipping tropical fruit wine, or meeting a tree kangaroo for the first time, every tour is designed with care, comfort, and a personal touch.
We pride ourselves on:
✔️ Supporting small, environmentally sustainable producers
✔️ Offering inclusive and accessible touring options
✔️ Keeping our groups small for a more personalised experience
✔️ Sharing genuine stories and local knowledge
💬 When you travel with us, you’re not just ticking boxes—you’re making real connections, supporting local communities, and experiencing the region through the eyes of locals who love where they live.

Acknowledgement of Country
Kuranda & Outback Tours acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters of Far North Queensland on which we operate, including the Djiru, Yidinji, Djabugay and Ngadjon-Jii peoples, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
We recognise the ongoing connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to Country and respect their enduring relationship with the land, waters, culture and community.
🌿 Sustainability & Environmental Regeneration
At Kuranda & Outback Tours, sustainability is embedded into our daily operations and decision-making.
Caring for the landscapes we operate in is a core part of how we do business.
Through our partnership with Reforest, every tour we run helps support restoration of the Mabi Forest on the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland. Our contributions are linked to our day-to-day operations, and each journey that our guests take helps enable tree planting and habitat restoration on the ground. In the last 6 months alone, we have planted more than 100 trees.
The Mabi Forest Restoration project is restoring cleared land by replanting endemic Mabi Forest species and rebuilding habitat for native wildlife. With less than 4% of this unique forest remaining, the need for restoration is urgent and every planting matters. It’s encouraging to see tangible progress: the first planting site, established in April 2023, is thriving with fruiting trees and native fruit pigeons returning, while a second site planted in January 2025 is already showing strong early growth.
We’re proud that our guests play a role in restoring this special ecosystem and supporting long-term environmental resilience in Far North Queensland.

Through small-group touring, responsible operations, and active environmental regeneration, we aim to deliver meaningful travel experiences while contributing positively to the long-term sustainability of our region.
